2009 House Bill 2123: Create new nominators for Court of Appeals
Introduced by Rep. Lance Kinzer R- on January 28, 2009
In his role as committee chair, to create a new official nominating commission for appointees to the Kansas Court of Appeals. Commission members would be appointed by legislative leaders and the governor, but none of the commissioners could serve while also holding public office or any official position in a political party. To fill a judicial opening on the Court of Appeals, the commission would select three candidates for the governor to choose from, then the governor's choice would be subject to Senate confirmation.   Official Text and Analysis.
