2010 Senate Bill 570: Inspection of lodging establishments

In his role as a committee chair, to increase license fee for a lodging establishment from the current $30 to $80, and the license fee for a lodging establishment with 10 or more sleeping rooms from $35 to $100 and an additional $20 (rather than the current $5) for each 10 additional sleeping rooms. The maximum fee for a lodging establishment would be $200, double the current maximum. The bill also requires any lodging establishment to be inspected when there is a complaint that the establishment does not comply with state rules and regulations.   Official Text and Analysis.

Recommending the bill be passed as amended by Senate Committee. The committee's amendment permits the state Department of Agriculture to work with local governments on lodging inspections.
