2010 Senate Bill 569: Increase in tax on beer and liquor

In his role as a committee chair, to double many of the taxes imposed on the manufacturer, use, sale, storing or purchase of alcoholic liquor or cereal malt beverages, including: increasing the per gallon tax on beer or cereal malt beverages from 18 to 36 cents per gallon; increase the tax on wort or liquid malt from 20 to 40 cents per gallon; increase the tax on malt syrup or malt extract from 10 to 20 cents per pound; increase the tax on wine with less than 14 percent alcohol from 30 to 60 cents per gallon; increase the tax on wine with more than 14 percent alcohol from 75 cents to $1.50 per gallon; and, increasing the tax on alcohol and spirits from $2.50 to $5.00 per gallon.   Official Text and Analysis.
