2009 House Bill 2120: Create Kansas tourism corporation

In her role as committee chair, to create a more independent state entity for promoting tourism in Kansas called the Kansas Tourism Corporation (KTC), to be run by a newly formed board and staffed by employees currently performing tourism work for the Kansas Department of Commerce. The KTC would absorb some tourism funds already maintained by the state and would additionally receive a portion of the growth in state sales tax receipts that are attributed to the tourism industry. KTC's board would be appointed by the governor, legislative leaders, and tourism industry organizations.   Official Text and Analysis.
